Fishboy - Alyson Revere

Alyson Revere from Eric Edward Fishboy on Vimeo.

Fishboy's video for "Alyson Revere" had me smiling as soon as I hit play. I think it'll make you smile too. It's from their album Classic Creeps wich features stories about 10 different characters that are all connected.

Stray Kites - Misanthrope

Junior of Stray Kites sent me an email about his bands new singles and approaching album release. They've tagged themselves as "hipster garbage" among other things on bandcamp which made me laugh. I'll try my best to describe them: Lo-fi folk punk indie pop. Just give them a listen:

Maximum Ballon - Groove Me

I'm of the general philosophy that if you have a chill beat and Theophilus London you can't go wrong. The video is also pretty cool. Turns out Maximum Balloon is the solo project of David Sitek from TV on the Radio.

Ruby Coast - Made to Change

I should have posted about Ruby Coast sooner; actually, I thought I had. They're a great band and they just released a video for one of their songs a couple weeks ago. Check it out, it's called "Made to Change:"

Dr. Dog

I guess this is when Toby had a damaged voice. If you ever get to see Dr. Dog live, you're in for a treat.

Humming House - Gypsy Django

Justin Wade of Humming House just emailed me to let me know they've released their single "Gypsy Django." It's a ukulele driven stomper; ya, I thought it was an interesting combination too. I look forward to seeing what the album will sound like. I'd be interested to know if anyone else hears early Andrew Bird in Justin's voice. Stream it here. Buy it here. Like them here.

The Love Language at The End Tonight

I'm partial to Merge bands. I think it's a mix between ethics and great taste. The Love Language are like sixties pop meets garage rock; I'm pretty sure that translates to "great live." They're playing the End tonight and you should check it out.

Oh Fortuna - Might Mountain

These guys know how to put on a show. Their album release was the first show I caught when I moved to Gainesville. I don't know that you'll find another band that puts so much of themselves into a show on a local level. This is a post, however, to tell you about their new song Might Mountain (though you should see them live if you get the chance). It's a great pop tune! and on a nerdy note, props to Darren Solomon on the mix.

California Wives - Tokyo

Man am I sucker for lush soundscapes! California Wives have created just that while simultaneously writing a great pop song. I'm gonna go ahead and call it my find of the day. Thanks to The Needle Drop!

The Inscape - The Inscape 7"

The Inscape reminded me that music can be a lot of fun. With driving beats and guitars you can't really help but nod your head (the entire crowd was pretty much dancing when I first caught them). They're great live and, fortunately, great in recorded form. You can grab their 7" for free on Soundcloud.

For you guys in Nashville, they'll be playing the Mercy Lounge this Friday.

Tumblewoof - Phoenix & Lil' Wayne

Nick showed me this. I'm not really a fan of Lil' Wayne at all, but this is certainly cool. Oh and at 50 cents this thing is practically free. Enjoy.
